OVERVIEW

Are you a snowflake lover? Are you a crafter? Or do you just like to get festive for the holiday season? Then this competition is for you!

Marie Ruth is accepting submissions for the first annual snowflake design competition. The winner of the contest will have their design published on marieruth.com as a printable snowflake cutting pattern, have their photo and artist description published on the website, and receive two custom wooden ornaments of their design - a $60 value!

All Submissions must be in by midnight on December 2nd, 2016, and the winner will be selected December 4, 2016.

SUBMISSION PROCESS

Submissions should be emailed to the email on my contact page, with a subject line of "2016 Snowflake Competition." There is only one submission per person. Please include the following in your submission:

1.Your name and address
2.Title of your snowflake design
3.Short snowflake description (1-2 sentences about what the design make you think of or how it was created)
4.A photograph or scan of your snowflake. Make sure the background is a contrasting color so that the shape of the snowflake is clearly visible.
5.Up to one paragraph of an artist description.


SELECTION PROCESS

The winner will be selected by a panel of impartial judges based on the aesthetic appeal of each design and the description and title provided. As stated above, winners will receive two custom ornaments of their design. Their design will also be featured as a free, cut-able pattern for a paper snowflake on marieruth.com, in addition to a photo of the winner (and or their ornament) shown on this page of the website.

3.When my eyes follow the triangles in this design, they suggest a popping motion that reminds me of pinecones opening up in the heat of the summer or a wildfire - the beginning of new life!

5.Toni Carlstrom was born and raised in Minnesota. Her love of winter and snow was apparent at a young age, but she finds beauty in every season. Toni has a degree in mechanical engineering, and has many project in progress, from running Marie Ruth to writing a book and keeping up a personal blog, she likes to keep busy!
